How to Keep Your Summer Eye Makeup Fresh
If streaking liner and creasing eye shadow have you ready to wipe your eye makeup off by lunch, modify your regimen. Prevention is your best defense in keeping eye makeup fresh during the hot and humid summer months. When your new regimen still can’t beat the heat, a few simple touch-ups will keep your eyes free of streaks.
Switch to products that can handle the heat. Look for long-wearing or waterproof mascara, choose eye pencils over liquid liners, and switch to shadows that harden to a cream once applied.
Go light. Line the upper lash line, or settle for a sweep of a light shadow. Shadow from lash line to brow is more likely to cake or crease in the heat, and darker colors will be more apparent if they bleed.
Skip eyeliner and mascara on the lower lashes. It’s likely to streak in the sweaty under-eye area.
Set eye makeup with a light dusting of loose powder. This will help absorb any moisture that may cause eye makeup to melt.
Use a non-powdered blotting paper to remove any under-eye perspiration when you do notice streaking. Wipe away any eye makeup with a clean cotton swab.
Reapply faded makeup sparingly.

4. Some artificial lashes has adhesive on the band. While others has to be done separately. Use a toothpick to in putting the adhesive to the lashes. Dab a thin coat and wait a few seconds to allow the adhesive to become tacky.
5. Press on the lashes bands from the inner to the outer corners of your eyes, placing them as close to your own natural lash line as possible. Hold them for a few seconds until they are set.
6. You can apply another coat of mascara if you want.
7. When removing the fake lashes. Apply a makeup remover and let it penetrate to the glue. It will be easier to take them off without irritating your eyelids. Then gently pull off the lashes.
8. You can reuse your fake lashes as long as your clean them. When cleaning them, use a warm water and soap. A tweezers will be great in pulling off the remaining glue. Brush the lashes with a toothbrush. Store them in the original container to keep their shape.

It is important to start this look with foundation and concealer to create a flawless complexion. Remember to set the foundation and concealer with a light dusting of loose powder so that the base will help keep makeup on longer.
- Start by applying the brown eye shadow to the upper lash line along the eyelid and blend into the crease below the brow bone.
- Next apply the pink shimmer eye shadow to the top inner corner of the eyelid and blend with the brown eye shadow. The pink shimmer eye shadow will also be applied on the brow bone and to the inner corner of the bottom lashes.
- Line the top lashes with the metallic bronze eyeliner, try to get as close to the lashes as possible. Line the bottom lashes as well but with a soft hand and blend with an eyeliner brush or a cotton swab.
- With the black mascara, start by applying to the base of the lashes and wiggle the brush back and forth. This step will help add volume to the lashes. Then apply a second coat of mascara by holding the brush vertically and pulling the lashes out. This step helps add length to the lashes.
- Apply the berry cheek color to the cheekbones. Start by applying a small amount and add another light layer if needed. It is better to start out light and add more than to have to try and remove too much blush.
- Complete this look with the deep berry lipstick.
With the lips being the focus of this holiday look for African American skin it is important to bring along the lipstick for touch ups. Without it, the look will not be complete.
