Make Up : Applying Concealer

A concealer with a high pigment level and having mineral oil as its contents is best for camouflaging purposes as it covers the spot better and stays on the top of the face for more time. It is best to check whether a concealer matches your skin or not in sunlight for correct estimations. Buy the concealer that blends so well that it seems to disappear on the skin and yet hide the targeted spot. Here are some tips to use concealer wisely to get best results:
- Adding yellow eye shadow to the concealer can effectively cover dark circles.
- Blue or green eye shadow added to concealer is helpful to mask ruddy tones and broken capillaries.
- Dry your pimple with the help of a blow dryer on low heat and then use a pointed brush to target the yellow-toned concealer that matches the tone of your foundation, which is dry and has a high pigment level, to the spot. Lightly press around the edges with fingers. Set with loose powder. You can also use concealer pencil for the purpose.
- Freckles and pigmentation must only be hidden when it is absolutely necessary as it takes a heavy layer of concealer to cover them up and can look worse. Moisturize the skin well and apply a creamy concealer, which is a shade lighter than your foundation and set it with loose powder. For added glamour, you can also dust it with subtle, skin-toned shimmer powder.
- The inside of the nose bridge, corner of moth and outer corner of eyes are the most susceptible areas and need special attention while applying concealer.
- The slightly dehydrated residue in the cap of your foundation can be quite an effective concealer that matches your foundation perfectly.
- To eliminate under-eye dark circles, choose a creamy concealer with medium pigment level and matt finish. Loose powder may end up accentuating the aging lines in the area. A silky make-up primer with a high level of silicone applied to the area before using the concealer, helps to better mask the area while it also hydrates and smoothen the lines. Apply the concealer by using the synthetic concealer brush and then press into the skin with the fingertips.
- To get rid of red scars and birthmarks, use yellow-based concealers. Apply a matt primer to the scars before using drier concealers with high pigment level to cover them up. For raised scars use a slightly darker shade of concealer than your natural skin tone while lighter shade is for indented scars. Set with loose powder.
- To hide broken capillaries, you need a yellow-based concealer with a high pigment level and pointed fiber brush for precise application. Press the concealer using the fingertips and then dust with loose powder to let it set.
Morning Makeup After a Sleepless Night

We all have days when we just can’t fall asleep for different reasons. Whether it’s cause you had an argument with someone you care for or you have problems at school or at work one thing happens the same for everyone in the morning. The fact that our body and mind didn’t get the much needed rest shows on the outside of the body as well. You will have red eyes, dark circles and a paler complexion.
In order to make yourself appear like you had a good night sleep you need to know what to do and how to hide the sleepless night effects over the skin. You will need to calm down and start pampering yourself.
Begin by washing your face with cold water in order to refresh the face. The cold water will cause a better blood circulation. Use a facial scrub to remove all the dead skin cells that had built up during the night and can leave the skin looking dull.
Moisturize your face so it won’t feel too tight. Moisturizer will also help the skin regain it’s vitality
Apply a cold patch of ice or some cold cucumbers to get rid of the eye puffiness because cold and cucumber act as a astringent. The cold will make the fluid retained under the eyes to be absorbed, but this is only a short time relieve.
Apply some eye drops to eliminate some of the redness of the eyes.
Apply concealer under your eyes to hide the dark circles. The concealer will blur the the dark circles under the eyes making them similar to the rest of the skin.
Apply Foundation lightly. You want to get coverage and a flawless complexion. If you add too much you will draw too much attention towards your face.
Curl your eyelashes, apply mascara and lip gloss to your lips as finishing touches.
You will now look like you have had a very good night of sleep.
How do I use body makeup so that it looks real?
With today’s revealing styles and naked legs, more and more women are using body makeup to cover up spider veins, freckles, nicks and bruises. (Don’t we all bump our legs constantly?) You may also want to use body makeup to even out your skin tone on your chest, legs, back or arms. If this is the case, remember that arms should match legs, and neck should match chest and back. It’s okay to use a sheer leg makeup (such as MAC’s Face and Body) a shade darker than your leg color if your arms are a little tan and your legs aren’t; but your legs should not be darker than your arms.
The key to making body makeup look real is: a) matching the color of your skin, and b) “setting” the makeup with powder. When covering a specific area of your skin that you would like to conceal, such as an age spot or spider vein, you need an opaque cream-based product for complete coverage. When you buy the body makeup, don’t forget to always buy the clear powder that is made to be used with it. Powder sets the makeup so that it won’t come off or smudge your clothing.
Applying the makeup is easy: Pat the concealer on the area you want to cover with a latex sponge, and blend into your skin; pat powder over makeup using a powder puff (you want to really saturate the area with powder); then brush off any extra powder with a wide, fluffy powder brush. You will need an oil-based remover to clean the makeup off.
